Liverpool Edging Bayern, Barcelona Cruising Pass Lyon

Liverpool making their way into the next round of UEFA Champions League stage following an important win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Playing away from home, The Reds looked pretty cautious on their approach and were more focus on breaking down their opponent’s attack and play a quick counter.

That tactic seems to work well as they got themselves in front through Sadio Mane on 26 minutes, capitalizing on a defensive error, notably from Manuel Neuer.

Bayern reacted well though after going a goal down as they pushed forward well and got back on level terms with an own goal from Joel Matip.

Both teams tried to improve their performance after the break, but it was Liverpool that managed to take advantage, in spite of what online gambling sites predicted.

The home team seems rather lackluster after the re-start, as Jurgen Klopp’s counter attacking plan and pressi high up worked well.

The Reds regained their lead on 69 minutes from Virgil Van Dijk’s header following up on James Milner’s corner.

Things got worse for Bayern on 84 minutes as another poor anticipation allowing Sane to net his second in the game.

It wasn’t a super exciting performance from The Reds, but it was more than enough to take them through.

Meanwhile, Barcelona comfortably cruising their way through into the quarter finals round as they overcome Lyon 5-1.

Blaugrana opened their scoring from Lionel Messi’s spot kick, before Philippe Coutinho doubling the Spanish side’s advantage on 31 minutes.

Lyon pulled one back through Lucas Tousart’s effort, before Messi basically killing the tie with his brace on 78 minutes.

Barca adding two more goals later on as Gerard Pique scored the fourth while Ousmane Dembele completed the routh by scoring his side’s fifth.
