Liverpool’s ambition to get themselves back sitting in second place of current English Premier League standings was hampered this weekend as they suffered a shock 4-3 defeat against home side, Bournemouth.
Determined to regain their runners up spot which was taken over by Arsenal on Saturday, The Reds immediately put on an aggressive display since kick off.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were dominant during the first 45 minutes as they got two goals in that half through Sadio Mane along with Divock Origi.
Bournemouth were not keen on giving up though as they pulled one back early in the second half from Callum Wilson’s spot kick.
However, it looked like Klopp’s boys had enough to overcome their opponent when Emre Can netted home his team’s third goal with a lovely long range effort.
Much to Liverpool’s surprise, the home team still didn’t give things up as they bounced back again when Ryan Fraser made it 3-2 for Bournemouth.
Things suddenly swung into the host’s favor as soon after Fraser’s effort, Eddie Howe’s men equalized, this time through Steve Cook’s shot from inside the penalty area.
Just when that tie set to be ending in a 3-3 draw, Bournemouth completed their turn around as Nathan Ake scored a dramatic winner in stoppage time.
It was a disappointing result indeed for Klopp as his side throw away two goals margin in that tie and eventually missed out in securing all three points.
