Liverpool and Arsenal continuing their journey in English League Cup (EFL Cup) after picking up victories over their opponents this midweek.
Jurgen Klopp’s men put on a good display as they eliminate fellow Premier League team, Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield Stadium.
Resting some of their regular starters, both teams remain hungry for a win, notably Liverpool as they were playing in front of their home crowd.
That advantage seemingly helped The Reds to control things better as they eventually got in front through Daniel Sturridge’s effort after just nine minutes of play.
After the break, both sides continue to push forward, but it was Klopp’s boys that managed to double their lead, with another goal from Sturridge.
Spurs were able to pull one goal back through Vincent Janseen’s spot kick, but it was not enough to stop the home team from winning that game.
Meanwhile, Arsenal got themselves a more comfortable win after defeating Reading 2-0, with goals coming from Alex Oxlade Chamberlain on 33 and 78 minutes.
A positive result indeed for Gunners as they regained their confidence in going forward after only picking up a disappointing 0-0 draw on their latest Premier League fixture against Middlesbrough.
Despite resting several important players, Arsenal’s victory is pretty much expected since their opponent is still one league below Arsene Wenger’s side.
