Leicester Stop Liverpool, Tottenham Win at EFL Carabao Cup

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp may claimed that his team are taking this season’s EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) seriously, but their fans will be thinking otherwise especially after witnessing their team getting ousted this midweek against Leicester City.

Playing away from home, The Reds were keen on showcasing their qualities as they haven’t one a game on their latest three games in all competition.

Klopp’s men did look dominant though as they were able to create goal scoring opportunities, but their wastefulness simply put them in a difficult situation especially in the second half.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, it was Leicester that broke the dead lock when Shinji Okazaki scored on 65 miutes and it was soon followed with a second goal by Islam Slimani who netted on 78 minutes.

That 2-0 score line didn’t change until the final whistle as Liverpool found themselves getting eliminated very early in the competition, adding another disappointment to their recent results.

Both teams will be meeting again this weekend in the English Premier League and The Foxes must feel a bit of confidence ahead of that tie, though Liverpool did make many changes into their midweek squad.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur got themselves a positive result at Wembley as they defeated Barnsley 1-0 with the only goal being scored by Dele Alli.

Not the most convincing result indeed from Spurs, but at least it was another positive result at Wembley, something they found rare up till now.
