Only being placed as substitute player on Ivory Coast opening fixture against Japan, Didier Drogba proved his importance by inspiring his team into victory in that game.

That influential display didn’t go unnoticed by the African side’s head coach, Sabri Lamouchi, who admitted to the press that Drogba is an essential part of his team.

Aside from being an important figure on the pitch, Lamouchi also revealed that the former Chelsea star is an important role model for current Ivory Coast young players.

It would be interesting to see how  will Lamouchi plot Drogba’s role for Ivory Coast’s upcoming match as they will be facing fellow table topper Colombia, which should be much harder to face.
