Controversial English player, Joey Barton received his first red card in Ligue 1 last weekend when his team Marseille played against Nancy. That sending off was dubbed as a harsh decision by OM’s head coach Elie Baup, who believes that Barton should still be on the pitch on that game.
It’s not a surprise though to see Barton getting sent off, throughout his playing years in Premier League, he got plenty red cards and involved in several unnecessary fights on the pitch, but the marching order against Nancy was his first in France.
Playing with only 10-men, Marseille ending up losing that match, making their title race with Paris-Saint Germain looking really bleak at the moment.
