Jerome Boateng Admitted Man United’s Interest Last Summer

Manchester United’s interest in signing German international defender, Jerome Boateng last summer was more than just paper talks as the Red Devils did try to sign the player but was rejected.

That confirmation was revealed by Boateng himself who recently told the media that Man United were one of the teams that showed interest on him, but he opted to stay at Bayern Munich.

Moreover, the 30 year-old center back further added that after deciding to remain in Munich, he eventually called Man U’s boss, Jose Mourinho, saying that despite honored with the Premier League side’s interested, the former Manchester City player is not interested in joining The Red Devils.

Boateng added that the arrival of new boss, Niko Kovac, pretty ensured his confidence in staying at Bayern as the tactician seems to believe in the veteran defender’s ability in holding down the Bavarian club’s fort.

It’s an interesting statement indeed from the defender, who pretty much added another light into United’s transfer woes last summer as they struggle to acquire any of their target at the back.

This story revealed that Man United’s failures in securing some of their targets are simply down to the players’ own decision not just the club’s resistance in splashing out too much money for that department.
