Higuain’s Double Put Juventus Ahead of Monaco in Champions League
Juventus’ huge summer signing, Gonzalo Higuain seemingly showcasing the reason why he was being bought as he netted two important goals for his team in their Champions League first leg semifinal match.
Playing away to the surprise team of this season’s competition, Monaco, Juve once again put on their solid display to overcome their young opponent.
The Italian giant’s experience was pretty much on shown in that first leg game as despite receiving serious threat from their opponent, but excellent display from veteran goal keeper, Gianluigi Buffon rescued them from conceding.
Meanwhile, on the other end, Juve were able to convert their chances, starting from Higuain’s opener 29 minutes.
Trailing by a goal during the first 45 minutes, Monaco continue to push forward after the break, but they still can’t beat Buffon.
As at the other end, Bianconeri got their second, once again from Higuain’s effort which pretty much sealed that game as Leonardo Jardim’s men failed to score any goals until the final whistle was blown.
Despite not necessarily playing an ultra dominant attacking football, Juve’s solid and effective display have been successful so far this season and looked to bring them into a potential UCL final clash.
It will be a difficult task for Monaco to reverse thing in Italy, but they must not give up since anything can still happen in Turin.
