Napoli star, Marek Hamsik finally showing his potential for Slovakia as he lead them in grabbing their first Euro 2016 victory, defeating Russia 2-1.
Hamsik played a part in both of his nation’s goal, creating the first one from Vladimir Weiss, before eventually netting his second with a wonderful shot.
The midfielder was able to maintain Slovakia’s tempo and move them ball around swiftly for his teammates in most of the game.
Russia did tried to make a come back though, especially after they pulled one back through Denis Glushakov with 10 minutes left in the clock.
That goal fro Glushakov gave a nervy final 10 minutes for Slovakia as they tried hard to hold into their slender lead, while Russia were pushing hard to snatch at least another point.
However, in the end, it was Slovakia that came out as winner, giving them an important three points, which opened up their shot in qualifying into the knock out stages.
