Switzerland failed to advance into the last eight of Euro 2016 after being defeated via penalty shoot out by Poland, but Vladimir Petkovic’s men put on an excellent display in that game, including a wonder goal scored by Xherdan Shaqiri.
Trailing by a goal since midway into the first 45 minutes, Shaqiri was one of the reason why Swiss were able to get back into that tie with his sensational overhead kick volley on 82 minutes.
The Stoke City player, took advantage of a wild bouncing ball just outside of the penalty area and simply did a wonderful bicycle kick which flew straight into Poland’s goal.
Not only scoring the equalizing goal, Shaqiri also put on an inspiring display, notably since the second half up till extra time, where Swiss could have won the match with the opportunities they created.
Unfortunately, in the shoot out Swiss have to bow out after Granit Xhaka missed his shoot out while all Poland players successfully converted their spot kick.
