England missed out on the opportunity to start their Euro 2016 campaign with all three points after being held into a 1-1 draw by Russia this weekend.
Three Lions’ coach, Roy Hodgson, admitted that the result was a bitter pill to swallow for his team especially since they conceded a very late goal after dominating most of that tie.
Nevertheless, Hodgson stated that he will try to tame the positives from their performance and left all the disappointing memory behind them.
England’s goal scored in that match, Eric Dier also stated his disappointment, but urged his teammates to pick themselves up as they still have more games to make things right.
Meanwhile, Russia’s head coach, Leonid Slutsky was proud of his players’ never say die attitude as they continue to stuck at it until the very end and eventually earned a precious point.
It was not a bad start for both sides, considering they still have two games left in that group, but for England it was truly devastating as they really missed out on a great opportunity to win.
Creating many chances throughout that tie, before finally taking the lead through Dier, Three Lions have to settle for a point following Vasiliy Berezutski’s injury time header.
