Spain made their way into the knock out stage of FIFA World Cup 2018 as group winner, but it was not without a dramatic scene as they were only drawing 2-2 against Morocco.
Playing against Atlas Lions on their final group match, La Furia Roja were expected to pick maximum points without much concern.
However, that sentiment immediately went out of the way when Herve Renard’s side got themselves in front after just 14 minutes in the clock through Khalid Boutaib’s goal, taking advantage of a defensive error from Spain.
Fortunately for Hierro’s men, they were able to get back on level terms within just five minutes later when Isco finishing off a fine attacking moves to make it 1-1.
After grabbing that equalizer, many would thought that La Furia Roja would just stroll pass their opponent, but it was far from an easy battle.
Morocco were able to create several opportunities, before eventually regaining their advantage on 81 minutes, this time from Youssef En-Nesyri’s effort.
Just when things about to look really bad for Spain, they suddenly came up with an important equalizing goal as Iiago Aspas netted home a cheeky finish in stoppage time to rescue a point for Hierro’s men.
Considering that their rival, Portugal also drawn their match 1-1 against Iran, La Furia Roja eventually finished as group B leader and will be battling host nation, Russia on the last 16.
