Receiving a surprise call up for Italy’s World Cup provisional squad, Matteo Darmian isn’t hiding his dream to achieve bigger goal, which is securing a spot for Azzurri’s final 23-men that will battle it out in Brazil this summer.
Although admitting that it won’t be an easy task to compete with many top players, Darmian remains hopeful adding that he is working hard in getting that final selection for World Cup 2014.
One of the main hurdle for the Torino defender is merely his lack of international experience as his yet to taste any games for Azzurri senior squad up till now, but the ex-AC Milan youngster hopes that he can do enough to convince Cesare Prandelli.
Speaking on recent press conference as quoted of FIFA.com, Darmain said,”I don’t know if I will go to Brazil. But I will give everything to impress Prandelli and make his choice all the more difficult. I know that I have no international experience as I have not played a single game for the national team. But this is all the more stimulating and it would be fantastic to play at the World Cup.”
Darmian’s inclusion into Italy provisional squad is somewhat a surprise for some people, although his fine performance with Torino this season simply warrants him that call up as he has been one of the best defender in Serie A this season.
