Croatia wasted their chance to secure qualification into the knock out stage after being held into a 2-2 draw by Czech Republic on Friday.
Ante Cacic’s men were able to control the match well up into midway point of that encounter where they were actually taking a 2-0 lead over their opponent, with goals from Ivan Perisic on 37 minutes and Ivan Rakitic on 59 minutes.
However, Milan Skoda’s goal on 75 minutes gave that lifeline for Czech and their relentless effort was rewarded on the 89th minutes when Tomas Necid converted a spot kick to draw level.
That match was interrupted with fireworks incident, which cause some disruption around the 86th minutes, but that apparently didn’t stop Czech Republic’s spirit in getting the equalizing goal which they eventually earned.
Croatia will definitely rues the missed opportunity, but they might also have some concern with Luka Modric’s condition who left the pitch on 62 minutes after picking up a knock and from that moment on things seemingly turned around for them.
