Chelsea’s ambition to defend their English Premier League title seems to be fading even further this weekend following their shock defeat against West Ham United.
Playing on an early fixture, The Blues had a big chance in cutting their gap with the top teams above them and also putting some pressure too with all three points.
However, it was far from an easy contest for Antonio Conte,s men as The Hammers were able to put out a solid display straight from kick off.
David Moyes’ side got themselves off to a great start as they got themselves 1-0 up after just six minutes into the match thanks to Marko Arnautovic’s effort.
Despite having all the time in the world to get themselves back into that tie or even turn things around, Chelsea were unable to do so as West Ham hold down their slender lead until the final whistle was blown.
Meanwhile, after picking up several disappointing results on their latest league fixtures, Tottenham Hotspur finally got into winning ways again after demolishing Stoke City 5-1.
In front of their home crowd, Spurs immediately took the attacking initiative as they’re keen on getting themselves back in that top four standings.
After an own goal from Ryan Shawcross in the first 45 minutes, Spurs just went off after the break as they added four more goals.
Song Heung Min netted his team’s second before Harry Kane followed up with his brace and Christian Eriksen completed their dominance by netting Spurs’fifth in that match.
Stoke themselves only managed to get one consolation goal with Shawcross making up for his first half trouble by scoring on 80 minutes.
