Preparing for the potential departure of Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea didn’t rest on their laurels as they are close to complete a record breaking signing for a new goal keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao.
The Spanish side have already confirmed that Kepa already paid his release clause worth 80 million Euro, which practically ended his previous contract with Bilbao and pretty much paving his way to Stamford Bridge.
Following this event, Kepa is scheduled to complete his medical in London before eventually being confirmed as new goal keeper for the Blues, supposedly replacing Courtois, who is keen on going to Real Madrid.
Once the deal goes through, the 23-year-old will officially be world’s most expensive shot stopper, beating recent record made by Liverpool’s new keeper, Alisson, which transfer just happened earlier this summer.
The Brazilian international was bought by The Reds from Roma with a total fee of 72 million Euro and looking set to be the most expensive shot stopper for a while, but out of the blue, Chelsea suddenly topping it within just two days before the transfer market in England about to shut down.
Many seemingly think that The Blues are making a rather panic buy, knowing that Courtois is very adamant in leaving Stamford Bridge for Santiago Bernebau.
Nevertheless, Chelsea can also convinced everyone especially their fans that the club are making an important investment as Kepa is highly touted as one of the most talented young keeper around the world.
