Chelsea go six points clear of their top four rival, Arsenal as Maurizio Sarri’s men picked up all three points on their latest premier league fixture against Newcastle United.
Playing in front of their home crowd at Stamford Bridge, The Blues immediately took control of proceedings as they were keen on getting an early goal.
The home team did get what they were looking for as Pedro puts them in front after just nine minutes of play.
However, that led didn’t last until half time break as on 40 minutes, Newcastle got themselves a surprise equalizer through Ciaran Clark’s effort.
After the break, Chelsea got even more aggressive, eager to regain their advantage over their opponent.
Sarri’s men finally got themselves in front again, this time it was Willian that puts them ahead on 57 minutes
No more goals were scored afterward as The Blues comfortably holding on to their slender 2-1 lead until the final whistle was blown.
Meanwhile, current Premier League leader, Liverpool got back into winning ways this weekend as they defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 1-0.
Mohamed Salah was key for the Reds as he scored the only goal in that tie after converting a spot kick on 50 minutes.
It’s a precious win indeed for The Reds as it doesn’t only end their recent losses against Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
