Chelsea’s hope of finishing top four in current English Premier League season remain alive and well following their important 1-0 victory over Liverpool on Sunday.
Playing in front of their home fans at Stamford Bridge, The Blues were very determined in getting all three points, notably knowing that it can keep their chance of acquiring one Champions League spot for next season.
Antonio Conte’s men put on an aggressive display since kick off and got their reward on 32 minutes when Olivier Giroud puts them ahead with his effort which lasted until half time break.
The Reds tried hard in getting themselves back into that tie as they have more possession of the ball, but none of their efforts were successful.
Chelsea were able to hold their slender lead until the final whistle was blown and earned that massive three points boost, which now puts them within just two points behind fourth place seat and three from Liverpool themselves.
Having two games left in their books, things might get very interesting for Conte’s boys since they can still collect six more points, while Jurgen Klopp’s team only have one more game to play.
The balance could very well shift into The Blues’ favor this upcoming midweek when they play Huddersfield Town as a win on that tie puts them level on points with The Reds.
