Chelsea’s ambition to immediately bounce back from their disappointing league defeat over Crystal Palace last weekend failed short this midweek as Antonio Conte’s men only grabbed a point against AS Roma.
Playing their third Champions League group game, The Blues were on course to cement their table topping position in their group should they beat their opponent at Stamford Bridge.
Things actually looked comfortable for the home team as they found themselves one goal up after just 11 minutes of play through David Luiz’s effort.
Conte’s team seem to be heading for another three points when Eden Hazard made it 2-0 on 37 minutes, but within just three minutes later that tie suddenly back in the balance as Roma pulled one back with an effort from Aleksandar Kolarov.
The visitor complete turn things around after the break as Edin Dzeko scored two to put his side temporarily 3-2 up, before Hazard netted his second in that match to make it 3-3.
Neither teams were able to grab that winning goal as they must settle for a draw, which so probably the best result for both considering their rival, Atletico Madrid also picked up a draw against Qarabag.
Meanwhile, Manchester United picked up a pleasing 1-0 victory away to Benfica, thanks to Marcus Rashford’s second half goal, which pretty much put Jose Mourinho’s squad comfortably topping their group.
