The relentless saga regarding Diego Costa has finally meet its end as Chelsea officially confirmed that they agreed terms with Atletico Madrid over a January transfer.
That confirmation arrived from The Blues themselves as they announced it via the club’s official social media account, adding that the finalization of the deal will happen once personal agreement along with medical check up is done.
Despite not revealing any official numbers as just yet, many media sources claiming that Atletico are set to pay 55 million Euros plus add ons variables which can go up to 10 million Euro.
Should that number proved to be correct, it will certainly be the Spanish side’s most expensive signing up till now, surpassing the 40 million Euro which they paid for Colombian international, Radamel Falcao, back in 2011.
Considering Costa himself was sold to Chelsea by Atletico few summer back with slightly lower fee, it’s a deal that certainly pleased the Premier League outfit financially, notably after the controversial summer situation involving the striker.
Nevertheless, the La Liga giant also felt that they will receive many advantages with the Brazilian born attacker’s return as he can help them a lot in La Liga or even Champions League should Diego Simeone’s side made it into the knock out stage.
In all, it’s certainly a move that seemingly destined to happen since this summer, especially as Costa himself already decided not to pick any other clubs aside from Atletico once Conte considered him surplus to requirement.
