Chelsea Bounce Back in Premier League, Liverpool Held
Chelsea continue to showcase their strong case as potential league winner after immediately bouncing back from last weekend defeat with an important win over fourth place team, Manchester City.
Looking for redemption following their 2-1 loss against Crystal Palace, The Blues came out strongly as they found themselves one goal up after just 10 minutes of play through Eden Hazard.
City were not in the mood to give up easily though as they fought back and got themselves back on level terms with a goal from Sergio Aguero on 26 minutes.
Antonio Conte’s men reacted well again afterwards as they put on another attacking display which resulted in a penalty and despite having his initial shot saved, Hazard was able to pounce on the rebound, making it 2-1, ten minutes before half time break.
Both sides continuing their attacking play after the break, but none of their efforts resulted in more goals as Chelsea see off their opponent with that slender lead.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s ambition to push themselves further establishing themselves in third place took a slight bump as they were held into a 2-2 draw by Bournemouth.
Trailing after just seven minutes, The Reds were able to turn it around with goals from Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi, but late in the second period, Bournemouth grabbed an equalizing goal courtesy of Joshua King.
In other games, Tottenham Hotspur keeping their title shot alive with a 3-1 away win over relegation candidate Swansea City, while Arsenal finally got back on winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 home victory against West Ham United.
