Chelsea made their way into FA Cup semifinals round after their success on eliminating fellow premier league outfit, Leicester City in the quarter finals this weekend.
It took Antonio Conte’s men until extra time to defeat The Foxes with a 2-1 score line, which means that Eden Hazard and co booked themselves a date against Southampton in the next round.
Following their exit in Champions League, Chelsea are eager to put their focus in the FA Cup as it’s their last chance of silverware this season considering the league title is basically a foregone conclusion for them.
Playing with an attacking approach, The Blues got themselves ahead after 42 minutes when Alvaro Morata netted home to give his side a slender lead going into half time break.
However, that first half advantage was canceled out midway into the second half as Leicester were able to get themselves back into the match with a goal from their main striker, Jamie Vardy.
The match eventually went to extra time since neither teams were able to get another goal during the remaining 90 minutes.
During that extra time stage, it was Chelsea that came out on top thanks to Pedro’s effort on 105 minutes which lasted until the final whistle was blown.
Meanwhile, the other semifinal in FA Cup turned out to be a big game battle with Tottenham Hotspur being drawn with Manchester United.
Similar with Chelsea and Southampton, both Tottenham and Man United will be keen on getting that final ticket as it most likely be their final shot of winning a silverware by the end of this season.
