Chelsea Beat Swansea to Go 11 Points Clear in Premier League
Runaway English Premier League table topper, Chelsea continue to distant themselves from their rivals as this weekend, Antonio Conte’s men picked up an important home win over relegation dweller, Swansea City.
Drawing 1-1 on their latest league fixture, The Blues were very determined in getting themselves back on winning ways straight away.
That spirit resulted in a strong start which earned them an opening goal scored by Cesc Fabregas after 19 minutes of play, but that score didn’t last until the second half as Swansea drew level just before the break through Fernando Llorente.
The Blues regained their composure afterwards as they pushed forward vigorously and eventually got their advantage back through Pedro’s effort, before eventually sealing all three points with a goal from Diego Costa.
An important result indeed for Conte’s boys as now they are sitting more comfortably at the top of Premier League 11 points above current runners up, Manchester City.
City can obviously close the gap again back to eight points, should Pep Guardiola’s men win their next league game, but it still is a big gap to chase.
Nevertheless, Conte’s squad should remain cautious despite their big lead as mathematically they are not champions yet and must maintain their focus for the remaining games this season.
