Positive news arrived for Italian national team head coach, Cesare Prandelli ahead of the upcoming World Cup 2014 event as his future with Gli Azzurri is reportedly secured until 2016, regardless what will his team’s achieve in Brazil.
The ex-Fiorentina’s boss hasn’t signed any official paper as just yet, but he already agreed on principal with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) to continue his journey with the national side for another two years.
Speaking to ANSA, Prandelli himself has confirmed about that agreement saying, “I feel great satisfaction and I’m proud that the federation have offered me a two-year renewal, regardless of how the World Cup goes. Because of this, I gave my total availability.”
This statement pretty much shut down all rumors about Prandelli getting back into coaching Serie A teams next summer as he previously been strongly linked with AC Milan or even Juventus, should the Turin giant lose Antonio Conte.
Milan were the most likeliest option for the ex-Viola tactician, but with recent appointment of Clarence Seedorf, that option somewhat closed, especially now with his statement to ANSA about continuing the Azzurri project.
Prandelli has been widely praised in recently times, mainly because of his decision to change Italy’s playing setup from the old Catenaccio into a more attacking side. Despite still failing to win any major titles, that approach seemed enough to please many Azzurri fans.
