Barcelona Return to the Top of La Liga

Barcelona only needed 24 hours to get back to the top of the La Liga standings following a 4-0 win against Real Sociedad on Sunday. The Catalan outfit were not goofing around against their opponent as Hansi Flick’s men put on a four-star show in front of their home crowd.

Barcelona Beat Sociedad to Reclaim Top Spot

The Catalan outfit dropped to second place in the standings ahead of this Sunday clash against La Real at Camp Nou. Needing to grab all three points didn’t put Barca under intense pressure as they managed to put on their best performance.

Flick’s men broke the deadlock after 25 minutes through Gerar Martin before taking full control of the tie with a second goal, scored by Marc Casano four minutes later. In the second half, Barcelona continued their pressure and added two more goals courtesy of Ronald Araujo (56) and Robert Lewandowski at 60 minutes.

Barca Sitting Top Of La Liga Ahead of Atletico and Real Madrid

That big win got the Blaugrana back into the top of La Liga standings, one point ahead of Atletico and three Los Blancos. Although the battle for that league title is far from over, that win will give Barca that calm and confidence ahead of their midweek Champions League tie,

Flick’s men can now switch their focus to their UCL round of 16 first-leg battle against Benfica, knowing they will be at the top of the league for at least another week. Barca will be playing away to Lisbon this upcoming Wednesday before hosting their opponent in the return leg.
