Barcelona Battered by PSG, Benfica Edged Dortmund in Champions League

A shocking defeat suffered by Spanish giant, Barcelona as Luis Enrique’s men were completely shattered by Paris Saint -Germain in the first leg of their Champions League battle on Tuesday.

The Catalan side which was strongly favored to overcome their opponent were stunned as they were beaten 4-0 at Parc des Princess in a very one sided affair.

PSG’s ambition to finally defeat Barca, following previous defeats against them, were strong as they started off in blistering fashion, putting strong pressure all over the place.

That positive approach was rewarded as they got themselves in front after 18 minutes of play though Angel Di Maria’s lovely free kick.

Trailing by a goal, forced Barca to try pushing hard for an equalizing goal, but found themselves even more vulnerable at the back as PSG’s quick counter earned them a second goal, scored by Julian Draxler.

Nothing changed much after the break as Barcelona continue to struggle in creating goal scoring chances, while the home side looked like scoring at most of their attacks.

Unai Emery’s side eventually added two more goals in that second period with Di Maria notching his second, while Edinson Cavani sealed his team’s 4-0 victory with his effort.

Meanwhile, in another tie, Borussia Dortmund found themselves beaten 1-0 by home team, Benfica, thanks to a goal from Kostas Mitroglou early in the second half.

Dortmund would be feeling disappointed though as they missed host of goal scoring chances, including Pierre Aubameyang’s spot kick which was comfortably saved by the home team’s goalie.
