Arsenal Trashed Again by Bayern, Madrid Ousted Napoli in Champions League
There were no surprises in the second leg of UEFA Champions League knock out stage this midweek as both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid got through into the next round.
Continuing their first leg domination, Bayern and Madrid picked up another victories over their opponent, Arsenal along with Napoli.
In London, Arsene Wenger’s side found themselves stumbled into another humiliating defeat as the Bavarian once again trashed them 5-1 making the aggregate in total up to 10-2.
Gunners did try to make a game of that tie as they put on an aggressive display from the start and got themselves in front after 20 minutes through Theo Walcott’s effort which lasted until half time break.
However, the tie suddenly turned into Bayern’s favor when they earned a spot kick which also saw Arsenal’s defender, Laurent Koscielny sent off.
Robert Lewandowski converted the spot kick and pretty much started his team’s goal rout as they added another four via, Arjen Robben, Douglas Costa and Arturo Vidal’s brace.
Similar to the situation at Emirates, Napoli also found themselves leading by a goal going into half time break, giving them that belief that they can turn things around against Zinedine Zidane’s men.
Unfortunately, The Partenopei’s dream was crushed after the break as Madrid turned things around thanks to Sergio Ramos’ double and Alvaro Morata’s late strike.
A disappointing night indeed for Maurizio Sarri’s men as they were close to pull off an upset, but eventually fell out against the defending champion.
