Western Union have become the new global partner of the UEFA Europa League. To celebrate, Western Union have committed to turn every successful pass in this season’s competition into funding to provide one day’s education for young people around the world.
Called PASS, the initiative is fronted by former international football star and World Cup Winner, Patrick Vieira and the scheme kicked off this week with the group stage matches already delivering over 20,000 passes – equating to 20,000 days of schooling.
The initiative aims to reach one million days of school over the next three seasons and builds on the work that Western Union has already done to support education globally.
The official website (wu-pass.org) is now live featuring top player and team passing stats as well as highlight videos and a video featuring Patrick as a schoolteacher – his first acting role – explaining the initiative. A second video with Patrick Vieira also features on the site.
