Newcastle have made a sensational start to the season, sitting in fourth position and with an unbeaten record in tact.

Shola Ameobi (shoulder) is still out along with Alan Smith (hamstring), Haris Vuckic (hand) and Mike Williamson (broken arm).

Tottenham Pre-Match Report

After a poor start to the season, Tottenham have well and truly turned things around and enjoyed a 2-1 victory over rivals Arsenal last time out. History is not on Spurs’ side however – they have failed to win on Tyneside since August 2004.

Spurs will hand Emmanuel Adebayor a late fitness test on the hamstring injury he suffered against Arsenal last time out but Rafael Van der Vaart should be fit. Boss Harry Redknapp does have a long list of injuries to content with however with Sandro (calf), Aaron Lennon (groin), Niko Kranjcar (thigh), Vedran Corluka (foot), William Gallas (calf), Michael Dawson (Achilles) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) all out.
