On paper, Manchester City have one of the most expensive squads in all of Europe. A squad assembled by the likes of Sven-Göran Eriksson, Mark Hughes and Roberto Mancini, the “Noisy Neighbors” remain on track for a first league title since the 1967-68 season. Brushing aside the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and even embarrassing Manchester United at Old Trafford has been enough to make the world take notice. With three months to go, though, the pressure of stripping Manchester United of their Premier League crown will begin to creep up, and City will have to be at their absolute best across the field if they are to bring home the title.

Ryan Giggs, who recently extended his contract another year with United, believes that City have made themselves the favorites for the title, but admits that the pressure will start to build within the Eastlands. The burden of expectation is a tough one to carry, and the team who can do it best will be the team on the throne come May.

‘I think in most people’s eyes they’re favourites because they’re top of the league, and because of the quality they’ve got, and the football they played early-season,’ Giggs told The Daily Mail. ‘It’s just down to which team handles it best.

‘With the quality they’ve got, we knew that they were going to be right up there. But as well as putting all those players together, they needed to have that consistency, which you can see they’ve developed now because they’re top of the league.’

Should the table remain where it stands come April 28th, all eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium when table-toppers City host Sir Alex Ferguson and United. A double over the Red Devils would not only add insult to injury, but could all but seal the deal for Mancini’s men. The Barclays Premier League has been as exciting as ever this year, but a blue moon has been rising since August. The tides of England could be change, and one word could determine the outcome : Pressure.
