Manchester City goal: Well wouldn’t you just know it. He’s not had the most solid of starts in the defensive third but Vincent Kompany has sure shown his prowess at the other end. The Belgian beats both Dirk Kuyt and Glen Johnson to David Silva’s corner to give his side the lead.
GOAL Liverpool 1-1 Manchester City (Joleon Lescott own goal)
Liverpool goal: That didn’t last long. City are pegged back almost instantly. Charlie Adam lines up a shot from 35 yards, more in hope than anything, but a deflection of the boot of Joleon Lescott steers the ball past the helpless Joe Hart.
