With Liverpool having booked their first trip to Wembley Stadium since 1996 for the Carling Cup final, the Reds will have to pass an FA Cup test against Brighton to continue their quest for domestic glory.  While their league form has faltered, their cup runs have been immaculate.  Brushing aside the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City in the Carling Cup, and handing Manchester United a 2-1 defeat at Anfield to book their place in the fifth round has given Kopites something to cheer for.  However, with the FA Cup match taking place a week before the Final, some fans may raise the question of whether Kenny Dalglish will set a priority on either cup.  It seems, though, that the Reds are in the mood to put both cups in their trophy cabinet by seasons end.

With the Reds first attempt at silverware since 2007, fans will be itching for the side to sweep Cardiff City aside, which will be no easy task.  However, the Reds will have to be at their best and shrug off their Anfield hoodoo to get past Brighton and book their place in the FA Cup sixth round.  The Reds home form has been near mediocre at best, and after facing a tough test at Brighton in the early rounds of the Carling Cup, they will need to up their game to continue their quest for a cup double.

“Some people say the FA Cup is more important than the Carling Cup. I don’t see it that way,” Skrtel told LFC magazine.

“They are both trophies, and if you win one or the other you qualify for Europe. I want to win both of them. I don’t think one is more important than the other.”
