Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal maintain a tight race at the top of the English Premier League standings following Saturday’s fixtures results. All three teams grabbed maximum points from their weekend games and will remain in the top three until the international break.
The Reds Remain Top of the League Table
The Reds continue their surge under new boss Arne Slot as they picked up their six league victories following a slender 1-0 victory over Southampton. Liverpool’s only goal in that game came early with an effort from Diego Jota after just nine minutes into the match.
Jota’s goal was enough to secure all three points for the away side as Palace were unable to get back on level terms. Unfortunately for Liverpool, their goalkeeper, Alisson Becker had to leave the game with an injury that might see him missing some games.
Man City and Arsenal Maintain Gap with Liverpool
The Reds’ win still keeps them at the top of the table but they are only within one point ahead of their rivals, Manchester City and the Gunners. Both City and Arsenal were able to keep their gap after winning their respective matches also on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s men snatched a thrilling 3-2 victory over Fulham, while Arsenal beat Southampton 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium. Those results put both teams level on 17 points with City having a slightly better goal difference.
