Liverpool and Holland striker Dirk Kuyt is set to sign a new contract this week, keeping him at Anfield until 2014. Dirk Kuyt is ready to committ his future to the Reds despite being linked with a move away from Merseyside this past summer.
Kuyt’s goal against Manchester City on Monday night was the striker’s 9th in 10 games for club and country alike; including that memorable “seven – yard” hattrick against Manchester United. The Dutchman, well known for his work rate on the pitch, has been one of Liverpool’s outstanding performers on the season; a season that started off so bleak. Like the club itself, however, Kuyt has found renewed confidence in his abilities putting in several man of the match performances, as well as marking himself as Liverpool’s top scorer on the season.
Fenway Sports Group will be looking to keep ahold of their star names, but will not stand in the way of those who have dreams elsewhere. Kuyt is ready to committ his future to the Reds, and is a player that can contriubute as well as serve as a role model for the upcoming Academy products.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish said: ‘You know what you are going to get from Dirk Kuyt — you are going to get honesty and goals and we are delighted with what he has done. Long may it continue.’
