Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt says there were no concerns over burnout going into the World Cup.
Kuyt was an ever-present during Holland’s qualifying campaign, while domestically he played 53 games for Liverpool.
So how has he managed to continue putting in all-action displays throughout the summer? According to the man himself, all he needed was a single week off to be in tip-top condition.
He said: “The Dutch manager gave me a week off after the Liverpool season so I could focus on this tournament. That was good for me. Afterwards I trained hard. I fought for my place in the team. I am enjoying myself now and here we are in the final.”
