West Ham United's ambition in grabbing maximum points on their Premier League weekend fixture fell short as Sam Allardyce's side were held into a thrilling draw by West Brom. Eager to present their loyal fans with massive three points, West Ham were pushing forward since early minutes and that effort was rewarded with a quick goal from Joe Cole who scored after just four minutes. The away side reacted well though after going behind as they put on a solid display before eventually leveling the score five minutes before half time break through Nicolas Anelka, who completed his brace just before the first 45 minutes whistle to make it 2-1 as both sides go into the break.
In the second period, it was West Ham's turn to push forward in search for an equalizing goal and that attempt was successful indeed with Modibo Maiga grabbing that equalizing goal on 65 minutes. Soon afterwards, the home side regained their lead, thanks to an effort from Kevin Nolan who scored just two minutes after Maiga's equalizer. The away side did not give up just yet as they continue to battle hard and eventually earning a point when Saido Berahino scored on 69 minutes.
