West Bromwich Vs Wigan Athletic Highlights:West Bromwich Albion desired to finish this season in a top-half position while Wigan was in need of a victory that could keep their survival in the league intact. They fought each other in the Hawthorns for an explosive game that saw 6 goals being scored.
It was a must win game for Wigan if they wanted to steer clear out of the last few spots in the Premier League.
The match did not start off in the way the visitors hoped it to be as West Bromwich scored the opening goal through Shane Long at the 29th minute. Lukaku picked out Rosenberg down the wings that later spotted Long as he only had to tap it into the net with a close range effort.
Arouna Kone scored a crucial equalizer only moments later when Beausejour was given just enough time and space for him to locate and cross the ball over to Kone. The Ivorian netted his 13th goal of this season and probably one of his more important goals.
More defensive mistakes from Wigan allowed West Bromwich to score their 2nd goal of the evening. 5 minutes into the 2nd half and Dorran launched a free-kick which arrived to McAuley as he headed it past Wigan’s goalkeeper Joel Robles.
The substitute player James McArthur entered the pitch at the 57th minute and only 1 minute later he scored the 2nd goal for Wigan.
Shaun Maloney delivered a cross over to McArthur who had only touched the ball a few times but it did not matter as he tucked the ball into the back post and now the scoreboard was 2-2.
With 10 minutes remaining on the game Callum McManaman netted the winner after collecting the ball from Maloney and only having to score from point blank range.
It’s a vital victory for Wigan that helps them in their survival of this season in the Premier League.
