Having been tasting positive results in their last few matches, Manchester City will be hoping to keep that positive run going in the start on new year when they face up against tricky Swansea City side this Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Playing away from home shouldn't be an issue for Man City as on paper they have the technical individual who can pull off maximum results against any teams, including Michael Laudrup's men this upcoming midweek.
However, playing in front of their home crowd, Swansea surely won't be keen on giving up three points easily for their opponent as Laudrup's boys do have the ability in pulling off a shock result against big teams. Still sitting in mid-table position, the Welsh based outfit are keen on putting on a much better performance in 2014 to improve their table and possibly challenging for European spot finish by the end of this current season.
It was Man City that eventually coming away with all three points from that midweek encounter and starting their new year in a positive way after winning a thrilling contest against Swansea. The away side got themselves in front after 14 matches through Fernandinho's effort, but that lead was canceled out just before half time whistle with an effort from Wilfried Bony. In the second period, City regained their lead when Yaya Toure scored on 58 minutes, before Aleksandar Kolarov nestled in the third goal to provide comfortable lead for his team. Swans did create a tense end though as they pulled another goal back in stoppage time with another effort from Bony.
