Liverpool are gearing up for another potentially intriguing English Premier League contest on Sunday, January 12 as Brendan Rodgers' men travel to face Stoke City at Britannia Stadium. Haven't been picking up convincing enough away results in recent games, The Reds are eager to showcase their ability in winning matches away from Anfield, and there's a good chance for it knowing that on paper, they do have better talents compared to Stoke.
However, the home team have been in a pretty positive form lately, so they won't give things up easily on that weekend battle as wan't to keep improving their current standings. Sitting at 12th place, Stoke are still far from reaching that safe zone, that's why they will be needing as much victories they can grab, before feeling secure from any potential drop by the end of this current season.
In the end it was Liverpool that came away with maximum points from that weekend tie, but it wasn't without any difficulties as they were held into a 2-2 draw during the first 45 minutes. Brendan Rodgers' men got in front through an own goal from Ryan Shawcross after just five minutes of play and things looking really comfortable for them when Luis Suarez extending his sides lead with his effort on 32 minutes.
Stoke refused to give up though as they got back on level terms just before the half time break, with goals arriving from Peter Crouch on 39 minutes and Charlie Adam who blasted an excellent long range effort right in the 45th minutes mark. Liverpool regained their lead in the second period through Steven Gerrard's effort and Suarez bagged his second on that tie with a lovely finish on 71 minutes. The home side kept on pushing forward though and earned a well deserved third goal through Jonathan Walters five minutes from time, but moments later the Reds secured all three points thanks to an effort from Daniel Sturridge two minutes later.
