Starting to show some consistent positive result on their league fixture, Chelsea are looking for another victory this midweek as they travel to face Southampton on new year day. Ending the 2013 year with an important win over Liverpool last weekend, Jose Mourinho's men will surely hope to start their 2014 in a positive way, that's why grabbing all three points is the target for them in this midweek encounter.
Southampton themselves seemed to be suffering a dip of form after making an excellent start to their season, coincidentally their run of poor result did start after picking up an away defeat against Chelsea. Looking at that situation, The Saints will be hoping that their luck will turn around this time as they are keen on snatching all three points from the Blues which could re-start their new year and getting back into form once again.
The Blues still keeping their positive run going after snatching an important away win over Southampton on that midweek battle, which looked really tight during the first 45 minutes. After a goalless half, Chelsea finally got things going with an effort from their Spanish international, Fernando Torres who scored on the hour mark. Brazilian star, Willian got his name in the score sheet by scoring his side's second on 71 minutes, before his fellow countryman, Oscar secured all three points with a goal eight minutes from time.
