After recent disappointing results, Tottenham Hotspur finally got themselves back on winning ways this weekend when they snatch a hard fought away win over Southampton at St Mary's Stadium. Both teams haven't been picking up positive results recently, to it was the perfect setup for an entertaining contest and it was Saints that got things going when Adam Lallana put his team in front on 13 minutes.
That lead didn't last long though as on 25 minutes, Spurs managed to get back on level terms with a goal coming from Emmanuel Adebayor, who looked eager to showcase his sharpness after hardly being used by previous manager, Andre Villas-Boas. That goal triggered strong confidence from the away team as they turned things around thanks to an own goal from Jos Hooiveld on 54 minutes. Southampton didn't fall down easily as they bounced back five minutes later with an effort from Rickie Lambert, but it was the away side that eventually coming away with all three points as Adebayor completed his brace with another goal on 64 minutes.
