Sampdoria 1-0 Atalanta highlights: Sampdoria picked up an important result on their latest Italian Serie A fixture this weekend after defeating their visitor Atalanta at Luigi Ferraris' stadium.
Eager to move away from relegation trouble, Sampdoria were targeting all three points on their weekend encounter as they are not keen on losing face in front of their home crowd. It wasn't an easy task though for the home side in overcoming their opponent, as Atalanta do have quality players and have been picking up some positive results recently.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, Sampdoria finally find the break through as they took the lead through a rather bizarre goal credited to Shkodran Mustafi on 57 minutes. Mustafi's header went into Atalanta's net but there was a hand deflection made by Luca Cigarini, which almost resulted in a spot kick, but was ruled out by the referee as he awarded the goal instead.
However, the away side did eventually go down with just 10-men after substitute, Nica saw a straight red after committing a dangerous foul on Sampdoria player. Playing with a man up didn't make it easy for the home side to score more goals as they only managed to hold their 1-0 lead as their opponent put on a solid display after doing a man down.
