Real Betis picked up a positive result in the first leg fixture of their Copa Del Rey battle against Athletic Bilbao as the host defeated their visitor in a hard fought battle. Both teams were keen on picking up maximum result form that first meeting as it should paved way in advancing into the next stage of that competition. After a very tight early minutes' battle, it was Betis that broke the dead lock when Ruben Castro netting home on 42 minutes.
Only leading by a goal in the first 45 minutes, Betis continue to push forward in search for more goals, but Bilbao were not keen on giving things up easily as they also battle hard to get back on level terms. That tight encounter eventually ended in a 1-0 victory for the host as no more goals were scored by either sides until the final whistle was blown. Despite losing that first leg, the away team still have a pretty good shot in turning things around at home.
