Atletico Madrid didn't have a bright start on their Champions League group stage opener as they suffered a shock defeat from Greek side, Olympiacos on Tuesday.
Playing with a confidence after winning the Madrid derby, Atletico found themselves struggling to overcome their opponent's spirited performance.
Olympiacos' aggressive display was rewarded when they got themselves in front on 13 minutes from Arthur Masuaku's effort.
Midway into that first 45 minutes, the Greek side were able to double their advantage, this time from Ibrahim Afellay's strike.
Atletico keeping themselves in that tie though as before half time break, they pulled one back from Mario Mandzukic's header on 38 minutes.
The away team pushed forward vigorously in the second half as they search for an equalizing goal, but instead they found themselves conceding another one.
A fast counter attacking play was finished off with excellent fashion by Kostas Mitroglou on 73 minutes, regaining his side's two goals margin.
Atletico refused to give up though as they kept on pouring forward, but all they managed were snatching one more consolation goal from Antoine Griezmann's close range finish.
