Olympiacos FC giving their Champions League campaign a significant boost after bagging an important home victory over Portuguese side Benfica on Tuesday. The Greece outfit are keen on keeping that runners up spot in group C, which eventually earned them a ticket into the knock out stage behind current group leader, Paris Saint-Germain.
Playing in front of a full packed crowd, Olympiacos were looking really eager to grab all three points against their opponent, especially after they successfully held them in previous meeting. The host made a bright start on that midweek encounter as their positive approach was rewarded with an early goal, which was netted by Kostas Manolas after just 13 minutes of play. Despite strong attempt in getting back into level terms by Benfica, no more goals were scored after that as the home team holding on to their slender lead.
