Successfully grabbing an away victory over Manchester United last weekend revived Newcastle United's spirit in competing for European spot this season and they are keen on keeping that positive spirit going this weekend as they face Southampton at St. James Park. Playing in front of their home crowd, Newcastle won't be targeting anything other than a win as that result would keep them in contention for top four challenge.
However, it won't be an easy task though as Southampton are also seeking for three points this Saturday, December 14 as they have been suffering a disappointing run of results recently. Grabbing a point against Manchester City last weekend might revived that confidence from The Saints as they will give their all this weekend, despite playing away from home.
Newcastle United's ambition failed to grab maximum points in front of their home crowd, after being held into a draw by Southampton this weekend. The home side made a bright start as they went one goal up on 27 minutes through Yoan Gouffran's effort. However, that lead was eventually canceled out as the Saints drew level with an effort from Jay Rodriguez on 65 minutes.
