Newcastle United bagged an important result on their latest English Premier League fixture in boxing day this midweek as they trashed Stoke City 5-1 at St James Park stadium. Looking to dominate proceedings since kick off, Newcastle didn't make a bright start on that encounter as Stoke got themselves in front on 29 minutes from Ousama Assaidi's effort. The Magpies had their shot in getting back on level terms when they were awarded a spot kick which also saw Marc Wilson got sent off, but Loic Remy failed to convert it.
However, Remy repaid his miss with a fine finish on 44 minutes, making the first 45 minutes ended in a 1-1 draw. In the second period, it was just all Newcastle as they dominated their opponents and bagged four more goals in that period through, Yoan Gouffran on 48 minutes, Remy's second on 56 minutes, Yohan Cabaye on 66 minutes and also Papiss Cisse's spot kick 10 minutes from time.
