Newcastle's Matt Ritchie speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we started well. We were in control and then we brought on the second half ourselves. We've worked on closing the game out and managing the game and we didn't do that today. It was our own doing that we lost that control and hopefully we can learn quickly because we can't be doing that every week.
"There were certainly positives. It was great to see the fans back and first half there was some good play. We could have maybe scored one or two more but there were positives for sure. Hopefully we can give the fans something to shout about this season."
Newcastle striker Callum Wilson tells BBC MOTD: "Everyone is frustrated, first game of the season you always want to get off to a good start. To concede three goals after going in front, we will have to address it and get back to defending as a team.
"It was nice, a special moment and scoring the first goal. It was an amazing feeling but straight to disappointment after conceding. A bittersweet day for me.
"It was a nice feeling, I have been waiting for this day for so long and the number nine is just an iconic number, I want do it justice. We got ourselves back in front but the most frustrating thing is to concede three. We need to stop the back door and will always be a threat going forward.
"We have to build on last year and that it is a process, game by game but not how we did today. Early days, first game to clean cobwebs and we go again for the next game."West Ham goalscorer Michail Antonio speaking to Sky Sports: "I had a couple of opportunities before that I didn't take but getting a goal in the first game starts the season off for me and hopefully I can keep going and keep scoring more."
On going level with Paolo Di Canio as West Ham's leading top-flight goalscorer: "Not bad for a right-back."
On having the fans back: "It's unbelievable. Even the atmosphere when we came out and the Newcastle fans were booing us. It's not the same without the fans so I really enjoyed it. This is what football is and that's why i love the game."
On his goal: "I'm going to have to say sorry to Dec [Rice] because when he missed his pen last season I said I'm on pens next so he might be back on them."
On West Ham's comeback: "We showed our ability last year. We showed we have the resilience and we always believe in ourselves that we can come back and score goals. We're never beaten, we'll always fight back and keep going."
