Newcastle United Vs Stoke City Highlights: A late strike from Papiss Cisse sealed Newcastle’s 9th victory of this season as they hosted Stoke City at St. James Park and had to fight hard in order to seal all 3 points.
Cabaye and Sissoko were some of the more active and creative players in the pitch for Newcastle with most of their promising attacks arriving from either of those 2 players. Cabaye fired an effort at the 16th minute which went just barely wide away from the post.
The former Serie A player Davide Santon made a number of surges upfront as the young defender tried to whip a shot past Asmir Begovic but it never happened for him. Newcastle’s 1rst half dominance continued on going till the last remaining minutes of this period of the match.
Just before heading into their respective dressing rooms Gouffran had a golden chance to score but he took a poor strike as it went above the crossbar instead of going into the net in itself.
All the goals of the match had to wait until the 2nd half starting off with a penalty strike from Jonathan Walters at the 67th minute putting Stoke City in the lead.
Although their lead only lasted some few minutes as Cabaye netted the 1rst for Newcastle with a superb free-kick which found the back of the net.
Just as the encounter was reaching its end and appearing as it was going to end in a 1-1 draw Papiss Cisse scored a last minute goal which edges out the victory for his team.
