Manchester City maintained their shot at grabbing this season's Capital One Cup after snatching a hard fought win over Newcaslte United, which needed an extra time to conclude things.
It was a typical Premier League contest as both sides were keen on bagging victory, despite the cup might not be something many top clubs are targeting, City looked to put a strong effort as they don't want to get themselves any any possible titles.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, both sides continue their battle in the second period as neither of those sides managed to snatch any single goals, forcing the game to go all the way into extra time. During that additional period, it was City that came out stronger as they finally got themselves in front on 99 minutes through Alvara Negredo close range effort. The away side sealed their victory with an effort from Edin Dzeko who netted home on 105 minutes.
